Sermon of baptism and confirmation for Dott. Roberto Rosso
“ And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree, and he threw it into the water and the water became sweet. There the Lord made for them a statute and an ordinance and there he proved them, 26 saying “ If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and he give heed to his commandments and keep all his statues, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I put upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer (…) 2 Mos15, 25-26
“ A voice cries: In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah.40, 3.
“ And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head… And truly I say you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.” Mark.14, 3; 9
Dear sisters and brothers, dear friends! We are the wanderer of hopes and of faith and of love. Our wanderings, our peregrinations are our searches for Lord’s Promise Land, to find the safely homeland, we may call the Kingdom of God. We know from Jesus that the kingdom of God is in us, and we are who could take care of our human face, to not loose the beauty of being God-likes. In our wanderings we need to be sometimes Moses and sometime we need to be open hearted to recognize Moses in front of us. In our wanderings, we are hungry and we are thirsty for he faith of salvation. In our wanderings we extent our arms and we lead our steps forward to reasons of hopes and forward to vitality of love.
That is why is so hurtful when we rise the water of life to our lips and we feel that this water is bitter. That is what is so painful when we raise the bread of existence to our lips and it is not satisfying our hungry. That is why it is so disappointed, when we do not feel the safeness of our footsteps when we walk on future’s pathways. That is why we need to be leaders and we need to recognize and follow our leaders. Moses leaded his people to the Promise Lend and Jesus leaded his follows to the Kingdom of God. They showed us how to make bitterer water to be sweet, bread to be sustaining, and our steps to be safely.
We are thankful to our God for revelations of salvation and we are thankful for those who lead us to have part of this salvation. We express our thanks in this moment for Moses and for Jesus for their life and for their effort to lead people to be nearer to God. We express our thanks to prophet Isaiah who helped the crying people to find the good direction form desert to the highway of God. We are thankful in this moment for occasion of being here and to be part of this ceremony of baptism and confirmation. Our heart and our soul is filed with faith, hopes and love, and we are grateful the piece of tree what makes the water to be sweet in Moses hands, and we are thankful for revelation of God showing us how to make every valley lifted up, and every rough places a plain. We are thankful for the spiritual oil what is cleaning our thoughts turning to our head. We are thankful for God because of showing to Roberto Rosso the Way what helps him for his salvation and helps him for feeding him with faith, hopes and love. We are thankful for this moment, to be part of his baptism ceremony and after to follow his confirmation and pray and sing together for One God.
To be baptized it means that you be registered of Christian Unitarian Church, and it means that this faith is very important to you. The confirmation is a confession of this faith and after confirmation you become a member of this Church. Confirmation it means that you know how to make bitter water to be sweet, or you recognize Moses-likes spiritual leaders to have form this water. Confirmation it means that you hear and follow the voice of Isaiah and you find the highway of God. Confirmation it means that you celebrate the valuable oil being poured to his head and you appreciate of this valuable oil and use for best reasons. Confirmation it means to look back to history and feel the message of reformation in the present to make future nicer and better. Confirmation it means to become an adult follow of Jesus and aiming to live, loving God and loving man.
Dear sisters and brothers, dear friends! Roberto Rosso chose these verses from the Bible for occasion of his baptism and confirmation. I said the messages of these verses, and you are who listen to me. These messages are for all of us, for speaker and for listener as well. God showed you dear Roberto a tree and you threw into the bitter water of our life. Thank you for your hearing the voice of Reformation of Ferenc David and hearing the voice of Italian religious leaders in Reformation’s times who were with Ferenc David. And thank you for message you expressed with your being here to be baptized and for confirmation. God bless you and take care of you and to yours! Dio the benedicto! Dieux benediction pour toi!
